How to measure

A waist belt is worn over your clothes. So the measurement that matters is taken over your clothes, not over your body.

natural waist
  1. Put on the jacket, coat or dress you intend to wear the belt with.
  2. Place a soft tape where the belt will sit: at the base of the ribcage, just above the navel.
  3. Keep the tape level and comfortable, not tight. Read the number in centimetres.

Match that number against the table on this page. Between two sizes, take the longer one.
how to wear it

On the natural waist, over a dress, a shirt or a fine knit.
The tab is the whole detail at this width. Keep it centred at the front.
Nothing else horizontal on the torso. A shirt hem or a wide waistband will pull the eye down and the belt stops reading.
Contrast with the garment. Black on black disappears; use the tan or the taupe when the garment is dark.
